THE RED carpet is being rolled out for Penarth Fashion Week this October, bringing local fashion designers and business owners together in aid of Penarth RNLI.

Events will be taking place throughout the town between Monday, October 9 and Saturday, October 14, in what is believed to be the biggest fashion event put on by an RNLI branch anywhere in the UK.

RNLI fundraising lead Caroline Eva said: "This is a really great and unique opportunity to help support the crew of the lifeboat station.

"We are so grateful for the sponsors and participants helping to support our fashion week.

"Our crews rely on the very best equipment, as they place themselves at risk in order to save lives at sea. By supporting fashion week much needed funds can be targeted to ensure the crews at Penarth have the most up to date, effective and safe personal protective equipment.

"The RNLI fashion week will add something different to our fundraising calendar and something that we hope to build on each year in the future."

Fashion boutique 'The Queen B', on Stanwell Road, is set to host the first such event on the Monday, followed by an after-party at restaurant and cocktail bar 'Etc...' later on that evening.

Women's fashion store 'Ginger's', beauty spa 'ener-chi', hair salon 'Blu Hair Design' and aesthetics clinic 'Dawn' are some of the other local fashion and beauty businesses involved in the project, which will also feature involvement from renowned bespoke tailor, Nathan Palmer.

Café 'Willmore's 1938' is also officially partnering the project.

The week is set to conclude with a fashion show being held at the RNLI's Penarth Lifeboat Station on the Saturday, which will feature 15 professional male and female models and also includes members of the Penarth RNLI crew. A signature dress is being designed specially for the show, while the famous yellow wellies of the lifeboat volunteers are also set to make an appearance.

Finally, this will be followed by an after-show party at Penarth Yacht Club, complete with raffles and deluxe auction prizes that have been donated to the charity.

Tickets for the different events will be going on sale in the near future.
