AN AUTUMN concert will be held to help support a church’s lighting fund.

The event at St Peter’s Church on Friday, September 22, will raise money for the Parish of St Andrew Major’s fund.

St Peter’s Church is a Grade II listed arts and crafts church designed by the well-known architect, John Coates Carter and was completed after his death in 1927. The internal lighting at St Peter’s is being upgraded and replaced with energy efficient units which will enhance the attractive roof structure in addition to benefitting the congregation and concerts.

Barry Community Choir will be performing at the concert which begins at 7.30pm.

The choir started life as Barry Choral Society in the 1960s. The choir decided to change its name in 2015 as numbers had fallen to a dangerous level and it was feared that if the choir didn’t update itself in some way, it would cease altogether. he choir is now one of the largest mixed voice choirs in the Vale.

Tickets are £5 and available from church members, Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern at the rear of Murchfield Community Centre on Sunnycroft Lane and from The Parish Hall on Britway Road.
