Cardiff and Vale University Health Board (UHB) has announced it will be working in partnership with Wales Community Rehabilitation Company (CRC) on a project to help reduce waste and save the NHS money.

Community Payback members will be assisting the Health Board in refurbishing walking aids, meaning that more walking aids can be recycled for reuse.

Sue Rees, deputy head of physiotherapy services at Cardiff and Vale UHB said: “By working together with the Wales CRC’s Community Payback service to facilitate the refurbishment of walking aids, and by providing equipment that meets patient needs in a timely manner, it means that we are able to save money, reduce waiting times for equipment loans and reduce our impact on the environment.”

Lacey Meredith, community payback manager at Wales CRC, said: “We are delighted to expand our partnership with Cardiff and Vale UHB. This partnership is a great example of the work we do in the community to help reduce re-offending, while giving people opportunities to turn what could be a negative experience into something positive.”
