A STAR of acclaimed dramas such as the BBC’s Death in Paradise, Silent Witness and Casualty is about to take on the role of principal at a performing arts school in Penarth.

Actress Shalisha Heron is set to inspire the next generation of young performers in the Penarth area, becoming the new principal of the town’s Stagecoach Performing Arts school.

A long-standing member of the Stagecoach family, performing arts have been a major part of Ms Heron's life since she took up the role of Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz at the age of nine.

Since then, her CV boasts performances at a number of iconic venues including The National Theatre, Shakespeare Globe and the West End as well as her vast TV and film credits including Death in Paradise, Silent Witness and her current role as BBC Casualty’s Dr Paige Allcott.

Ms Heron said: “I’m buzzing with excitement at the opportunity to build a strong, creative programme that will challenge the talented children of Penarth, whilst being fun, educational, stimulating and rewarding for them.

“I'm passionate about helping young people be the best versions of themselves, encouraging them to be confident, creative and grounded. At our school, we commit to creating a safe and inclusive space for our students to explore their creativity loudly!”

Stagecoach aims to make a difference in students’ lives by teaching Creative Courage for Life.

Many children have gone on to study and work in Performing Arts from blockbuster films to countless roles in local theatre productions.

Early Stages classes are available for children aged four to six and Main Stages classes take place for six to 18-year-olds every weekend during term time.
