A PENARTH chippy has raised more than £1,000 for a national cancer charity.
Penarth Fish Bar, on Cornerswell Road, raised £1,428 in fundraising for Cancer Research UK between 2021 and December 2023.
The chippy has been fundraising for the charity for two years and has been recognised with a certificate of appreciation from the Penarth Lower Committee of the charity.
Osman Khan, manager of Penarth Fish Bar told the Penarth Times that he is delighted to be presented with the certificate.
He said: “I am very happy, as we like to help people around the world and cancer research is one of the most popular charities in the UK.
“It’s the first time I have received something like this, and I am very proud and feel good to get this certificate as the people in Penarth are very generous.”
Local businesses on Cornerswell Road have raised an additional £855.13 through customer donations.
