A PENARTH restaurant was named one of the best restaurants in the UK by Conde Naste at the weekend.

The Touring Club in Penarth was one of two restaurants in Wales named as the UK’s top new venues in Conde Nast Travellers magazines.

The restaurant on Stanwell Road was named alongside Annwyn in Narberth at the UK Top New Restaurant Awards in London on March 18.

Emma Sharpe, owner of the Touring Club told the Penarth Times that the award has put Penarth on the map.

“It’s an exciting time for the touring club, it’s a simple place. We have great food and great drinks, and we try to give everyone a warm welcome.

“We have an amazing team of Staff, and the Touring Club is a really important part of the community, and we are a sociable place.”

The Touring Club opened in Penarth nine months ago in June 2023 and was awarded the Bib Gourmand Michelin Guide 2024 for good quality and good value cooking.

Ms Sharpe believes that Penarth town centre is an up-and-coming destination and recognition for food.

She added: “We are excited, as Penarth is becoming a bit of a foodie hotspot which is nice.

"People come from all over the place to come visit the touring club.

“There was a lady who came here last week just for the day, and she travelled from North Wales.
