A TRIO of artists from Penarth recently presented a family-themed exhibition of contemporary artwork in Cardiff Bay.

Work by Pauline Williams, Shirley Anne Owen and Kay Keogh was on display at the Norwegian Church earlier this month and was part of a wider exhibition to celebrate the Women's Arts Association's ‘International Women's Day’.

Using her garden as a backdrop, Pauline Williams' lively and colourful acrylic paintings depicted her children at different ages of their lives and as they are now.

Shirley Anne Owen revisited the experience of watching her sons grow up to adulthood by making a large composite work based on family photographs and juxtaposing images with mementoes.

Kay Keogh related her work to the French poem ‘Come to the edge’ by Guillaume Apollinaire and devised her paintings into a narrative storyboard.

Each artist approached the subject from their own perspective as a celebration of family life.
