A PERSONAL fitness trainer from Penarth has helped raise more than £10,000 for Unicef's Haiti earthquake appeal, by organising a three-day rowing event in Cardiff.
Jason Korinek, 34, persuaded around 60 clients, athletes and celebrities to take part in the One Million Metre Row event.
Among those involved were Olympic medalist Jamie Baulch, TV presenter Amanda Protheroe-Thomas and fellow Penarthian and former marine, Max Glover.
The rowers began the daunting challenge at Mr Korinek’s JJ Fitness And Wellbeing Studio in Cardiff at 6am on Saturday (January 30) - and finished early on Monday (February 1).
Rowing machines were also set up at the John Lewis store in Cardiff.
Jason said: "I had pictures of the suffering from Haiti in front of the rowers and this seemed to inspire them.
"It just goes to show that when you set your mind to do something you can achieve anything.”
