AFTER 20 years service, Maintenance Officer Clifford Parker will be retiring from his post at Marie Curie Hospice Penarth in May this year.
Sad to see him retire, staff at the hospice have been assured that Cliff will be no stranger as he plans to be an ongoing volunteer gardener.
Cliff has witnessed many changes to the hospice over the years and has taken pride in maintaining the gardens in his spare time. As a keen gardener he is looking forward to getting stuck in as an official volunteer.
These gardens are such an important part of our hospice, providing patients and families somewhere to sit and relax. The gardens to the front of the hospice are always the first thing new patients see when they arrive, so it is important that they are bright and welcoming, Cliff says.
The hospice is now looking to recruit a team of green-fingered volunteers to join Cliff in the garden and with the spring well underway there is plenty to be done.
Anyone who enjoys gardening and has some spare time please get in touch with Sarah Timmis, Volunteer Services Manager, on 029 2042 6047 and help the hospice gardens take on a new lease of life.
The hospice wishes Cliff all the best for a happy retirement and thanks him sincerely for all his hard work and dedication over the past 20 years.
