BACK in December, GCSE textile pupils at Stanwell School attended the Clothes Show Live in Birmingham, where they picked up an entry form for the Lisa Lam design a bag competition.

Pupils were in the process of completing a clutch bag project, so the competition fitted in perfectly. Pupils enthusiastically entered the competition, and were amazed to find out that the winner was Year 9 Stanwell pupil Nicole O'Grady!

Nicole, who hopes to further her career in design, won a computerised sewing machine, and Lisa Lam will make up her bag for her. The bag will be published and a paper pattern will be available to buy.

Nicole, whose design beat hundreds of entries to win, said: "I was very surprised to find out I had won. It was really unexpected.

“I’m looking forward to seeing my bag made up by Lisa Lam and the machine and book that I have received have been great.

“I am really pleased, and thank my teacher Miss Britt for entering me."
