Good news on bus route

I REFER to my recent letter in this newspaper about the above bus service, to which I received a good positive response from readers (Penarth Times, January 24).

After initial concerns about the financial viability of this route, Hawthorn Travel has decided to continue on a two month trial period, starting from Thursday, 14 March. The altered timetable means now that residents in Sully will also have the opportunity to use the twice weekly service.

The bus will start at the Garden Suburb in Barry and travel through to Sully, via Cog Road, on a circular route, back to South Road and then on to Dinas Powys. The residents who regularly support this unique service on Thursdays and Saturdays really appreciate it and passengers will have a full two hours at Culverhouse after getting off at Marks and Spencer.

Notices with the bus timetable will be in the libraries in Sully, Penarth, Barry and Dinas Powys by the beginning of next week. Alternatively times can be obtained by ringing me on 029 2051 3274 or from Andrew Eccleshare at the Vale of Glamorgan Council number, 01446 700 111.

Hawthorn Travel is keen to make this special service a success. I would ask that residents who would like the chance to spend a couple of hours, perhaps having a coffee with friends or doing some shopping, do their best to support this.

It really is a case of 'Use it or Lose it'.
