I HAVE noted the absence of a crossword from several recent editions of the newspaper.
It occurred to me that this particular feature may have been left out because of the pressure on space of other news items. Or it could have been a policy decision by the paper to omit in future, what on reflection is a regular item in nearly all publications, national, regional and local in Britain.
It may be that the crossword is not all that popular with readers of the newspaper as a whole, but I find nowadays that such a puzzle can not only exercise the mind, but can constitute an additional reason for my buying a particular publication.
At the risk of being boring, I came to crosswords quite late in life, but currently attempt to do a few each day, while eschewing the “cryptic” type, which are usually too demanding.
What do other Penarth Times readers think?
