DEAR editor,
Penarth the garden by the sea?
Well, no - that's what it used to be
Before our more pragmatic ways
Turned front lawns into parking bays.
Remember hedges, snip, snip, snip
Meant Sunday mornings at the tip?
They harboured bugs and nesting birds
Unerring where they aimed their turds
Sang raucous songs at 5am.
New Larchlap soon put paid to them
Our pristine paving, wall to wall
Has covered up the messy soil
The small raised bed is quite a feature
And keeps the kids in touch with nature.
And Council, when it finds the fees
Will fell those pesky pavement trees.
