WITH reference to the headline last week on the development of a website to identify dog fouling, whilst there does remain a few irresponsible dog walkers, I would suggest a far more pressing issue is that of environmental litter.
Whilst walking my dog at about 6.30am last year the whole of lower Glebe Street was covered in rubbish where a number of food premises and residents had discarded their black bags (days before the collection was due), only to be torn apart from the seagulls.
Some householders take little responsibility for what they put out onto the street. Some children and adults seem to be unaware of what a bin is used for.
Walking around Penarth Rugby ground I picked up five discarded plastic bottles, six plastic cups and two empty cigarette packets.
Look around outside every pub or food outlet and there are cigarette butts everywhere. Alex Sharifi would do well to widen his website to look at the environment of Penarth as a whole, rather then concentrate on one element which quite frankly is not as large a problem as he make out.
