DEAR editor,

How many of your Penarth Times readers will know someone with diabetes? We are seeing more and more people diagnosed with the condition with new figures showing that 700 people a day are diagnosed with diabetes in the UK - that’s one person every two minutes.

But despite the fact that more and more of us in Wales are living with the condition people still tell us that their diabetes diagnosis leaves them feeling isolated and with unanswered questions.

We know that understanding your condition better and having the right support can help you live a full and healthy life. While the advice you get from your healthcare team is vitally important sometimes you need some advice from someone else who is in your position.

This is why we’ve asked people in Wales and across the UK to open up about their diabetes, share their tips and help others with the condition.

We collected all of these tips and created the 100 things I wish I’d known about Living with Diabetes book, which is completely free and jam packed with handy hints. This covers every aspect of life with the condition, from going on holiday and eating out, working out and managing diabetes alongside work, relationships and more.

If your readers have diabetes themselves or know someone living with the condition we want them to know that they can get their free copy of this book in the post by visiting our website diabetes.org.uk.

It could be the first step to getting the support you need from other people living with diabetes.
