DEAR editor,

I have to say how disappointed I am that Labour have yet again passed an inflation busting council tax increase at the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

Labour have imposed an extremely punishing increase with the latest 3.9 per cent rise with many now asking when will it end after around an 18 per cent increase since they started running the council with Llantwit First partners in 2012.

This is absolutely astonishing and just goes to prove that Labour continue to tax and spend instead of being better at managing the council. What is even more astonishing is the amount of reserves that are being sat on by the council which could be used instead of increasing our council tax bills.

It is not just central government to blame for these cuts. Labour in Cardiff Bay decide how much to give Welsh local councils, but have instead decided to spend more on health yet there have been no improvements.

Add to the fact that Labour in the Bay short change the Vale by not giving fair funding and plus loading up councils with more responsibilities but giving them less all adds up to the burden yet again being passed on to the hard pressed council taxpayer.
