I AM a male in his 20s that like many others is finding it difficult to break into the job scene.

Whether we like it or not we are a society that is still constructed in a patriarchal manner.

Jobs are still given on the basis of who you know not what you know and employers still exploit young people that have just come out of school as they are paid less than those who are 18 and older, which makes it difficult for most people that are 18 and over to make an honest living to build a life.

This can lead to stress, and depression.

The process of finding work is made even harder when you realise that education does not equal job opportunities, with people that have graduate degrees finding it tough to find work.

You may ask “What we can do about this?”

Personally I would introduce a system where shortlisted applicants are chosen on a weekly trial rather than over an interview, as an interview situation may prove daunting.

In conclusion in my opinion is we have a duty as a society to help our young people become independent as they are the future.
