LET’S pray the Balmoral sails again

On summer days when the Channel is silver

And the sky is azure and warm.

It is so graceful, Queen of the sea

White, black and sleek, an alluring sight

Leaving the pier and Penarth’s pebbled shore

A journey it’s made countless times before.

So let’s pray the Balmoral sails again

Ghosts who boarded from 1949

Will be hoping it rides the waves once more

Crossing the border, Flat and Steep Holm to the rear.

I stood on the deck staring with pleasure

Drifting and leaving all my stress behind

With just the beautiful scene on my mind.
