SULLY-BASED children's hospice Ty Hafan is asking the public to ‘dig it out, bag it up and drop it off’ on December 2 for #GivingTuesday – a global campaign encouraging people to support charities during the festive season.

The charity is in urgent need of stock for its 28 shops across Wales, including Penarth, and needs people to search their homes for unwanted items such as good-quality men’s and women’s clothing, DVDs, CDs and bric a brac and donate their goods to one of its shops on #GivingTuesday.

To raise awareness of the campaign, Ty Hafan has partnered with crowdspeaking platform ‘Thunderclap’ to encourage supporters to promote its stock appeal on Twitter and Facebook.

Matt Williams, Ty Hafan’s retail general manager, said: “We were the first charity in Wales to sign up to #GivingTuesday, a global appeal which encourages the public to support worthwhile causes like Ty Hafan during the festive period. We really hope the public will support our social media campaign before donating their unwanted items to one of our shops on Tuesday, December 2, as it will make such a difference to life-limited children and their families from across Wales.”

Ty Hafan’s shops are located in Abergavenny, Aberystwyth, Barry, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Cardigan, Carmarthen, Cwmbran, Cowbridge, Haverfordwest, Lampeter, Llanelli, Maesteg, Merthyr Tydfil, Neath, Newport, Penarth, Pontypridd, Port Talbot, Porthcawl, Swansea, Talbot Green, Treorchy and Whitchurch.

Ty Hafan also has a donation station in Cardiff Road, Barry.
