FOLLOWING the launch of the South Wales Tackling Violence against Women and Girls Plan in June 2014, the Police & Crime Commissioner Alun Michael and the Chief Constable Peter Vaughan have achieved the first joint White Ribbon status for South Wales Police.

White Ribbon aims to end men’s violence against women and girls by changing attitudes and behaviours that lead to and perpetuate the violence, and promoting the positive role men play in preventing it.

The White Ribbon Campaign UK has acknowledged the joint commitment of Peter Vaughan and Alun Michael to tackle and address the issue of violence against women.

As ambassadors they can use their roles and experience to speak out and take action to prevent male violence against women, pledging to raise awareness of the issue of violence against women.

To mark White Ribbon Day, South Wales Police, including the Commissioner’s team, were encouraged to wear a White Ribbon

Work with partners will continue to ensure a range of activities are undertaken to help raise awareness and introduce initiatives in line with the plan to increase awareness and confidence to report.
