WORK to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion along Windsor Road are set to take place in the new year.

The junction of Windsor Road and Pill Street will see alterations taking place, and work is planned to take six weeks. The puffin crossing on Windsor Road will be relocated to allow for a right-turn ghost island into Pill Street.

Work to reduce the risk of flooding on the road wil also be carried out.

Vale of Glamorgan council Operational Manager for Highway Maintenance, Michael Clogg, said: “The scheme at the Windsor Road and Pill Street junction involves the provision of a right turning ghost island into Pill Street which is intended to improve traffic flows and reduce congestion at peak periods along Windsor Road.

"To facilitate this, the existing puffin pedestrian crossing will be relocated some 10 metres further north along Windsor Road.

"The scheme will also include improvements to road drainage to reduce the risk of flooding which has previously occurred in this area.

"The main works are set to start on site early in January next year and will take approximately six weeks to complete. Some advanced works may take place late this calendar year.”
