CHAIRMAN of Microsoft Europe, Jan Mühlfeit, has opened new office space for technology companies in Penarth Marina.

Owners, Chris and Gaile Griffiths have started transforming the 20,000 square foot building into modern and spacious offices.

Jan Mühlfeit was chairman for seven years and retired last month and now works with technology companies to inspire and coach them around the world.

Mühlfeit visited Penarth this week to meet with Chris Griffiths, CEO of OpenGenius, to see the project first hand and unveil the development project.

The building called Tec Marina, in keeping with the technology and harbour theme, overlooks Penarth Marina. The space is the new headquarters for owner Chris Griffiths’ companies OpenGenius and DropTask with Chris hoping to lease office space to other technology companies and startups to help them flourish.

Penarth councillors Lis Burnett and Gwyn Roberts also attended the opening and are actively supporting the new technology hub which is expected to create up to 150 new jobs.

The Tec Marina development has received planning permission to include a gym, changing rooms and to stay true to the theme plans are underway to salvage classic boats to be used internally as casual meeting and reception areas.
