A WOMAN has died after being hit by a train in penarth.
The woman died after the incident at Dingle Road railway station Penarth at around 6am this morning (Wednesday, January 21).
Services were cancelled by Arriva Trains Wales for around two hours
A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “BTP officers were called to the line at Dingle Road railway station, Penarth after a report that a person had been struck by a train.
“Officers attended the incident alongside colleagues from South Wales Police and the Welsh Ambulance Service NHS Trust.
“The incident was reported to police at 5.56am and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
“Paramedics treated the woman at the scene and she was subsequently transferred to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, where she sadly died of her injuries.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the woman's identity and inform her next of kin.
"A file will be prepared for the Coroner."
