SULLY and Lavernock Community Council has praised a local resident for clearing the beach area at Swanbridge.
Each year the community council awards the Millennium Shield to a resident of Sully and Lavernock to recognise their contribution to their community.
The award for 2014 has been given to Gordon Hadfield of The Spinney Caravan Park for clearing the beach area at Swanbridge and restoring it as a facility that can be used by local people and visitors to the area.
In presenting Mr Hadfield with the award at a recent Sully and Lavernock Community Council meeting, the chair of the council Councillor Ian Barlow thanked Mr Hadfield on behalf of all the users of the beach area and recalled the pleasure that he had in his younger days of walking along the area.
Mr Hadfield will now keep the Shield for the remainder of this year.
