THE Vale Council is seeking proposals from catering businesses to run the café at Cosmeston Lakes Country Park.

The successful bidder will enter into an agreement to run the café for a five year period.

Cosmeston Lakes Country Park is open all year round and has more than 100 hectares of lakes, reed beds, woodlands and meadows.

Set within the park is Cosmeston Medieval Village, a reconstructed 14th century village, which has been used as a filming location in shows such as BBC’s Merlin and Sky One’s Stella. It has also been used for the Disney medieval musical comedy Galavant starring former footballer and Hollywood actor Vinnie Jones.

Operational manager for countryside and economic projects, Bob Guy said: “Proposals will need to appreciate this beautiful location, but we’re encouraging new ideas. In particular we would like to see more evening opening and improvements to the café.

“Later in the year we will be encouraging leisure and sport organisations to bid to provide a wider range of experiences for our visitors and this will complement those improvements.”
