THE APPEAL to raise £52,000 for a new boat for Penarth RNLI is progressing well.
Since the launch in July, £15,000 has been raised towards the target.
The team has thanked the people, organisations and businesses of Penarth for their support and their fundraising ideas.
The RNLI will send a letter of thanks where they have an address.
We have also launched a campaign to support the appeal, encouraging readers to donate and put on fundraising events.
The appeal has proven popular with all ages with one six-year-old washing a neighbour's car to raise funds.
A 98-year-old Penarth Times reader also asked the RNLI team to visit him so he could give them a donation.
One woman who picks up coins she finds in the street sent a cheque for the amount she had collected over the past two years.
A number of messages of support have also been sent through the appeal's Just Giving page.
If you wish to donate, you can do so by sending a cheque made payable to the Penarth Lifeboat Appeal to Penarth Lifeboat Station, The Esplanade, Penarth CF64 3AU or by donating online at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/penarthlifeboatappeal1.
You can also contact the appeal team by emailing penarth@rnli.org.uk or on 02920 709099.
If you have any more fundraising ideas, you can also contact the Penarth Times by emailing penarthtimes@penarthtimes.co.uk
