THE Penarth Bowling Club finals reached a climax on Sunday evening with the Ladies' Championship.
Diana Willcocks took an early 11-3 lead over captain Sue Croll, playing her sixth game of the weekend. With both bowlers producing their best shots, Sue slowly overhauled Diana and eventually won 21-15 to retain the championship.
The previous evening Sue’s husband, Billy Croll, in his first year outdoors, scored a creditable eight shots against Jason Greenslade who retained the men's championship.
There were many other close games, making for a very enjoyable two days of excellent bowling.
