PENARTH Lawn Tennis Club is going from strength to strength on and off court.

The club's regular Friday club night has been enhanced with the introduction of new bar teams, who are offering up weekly cuisine to complement the already popular selection of fine wines and ales.

Last Friday more than 80 members of all ages enjoyed the new PLTC Café, with drinks and food served in the clubhouse and on the decking, while the men’s second team displayed their skills on court and the juniors enjoyed table tennis on the patio.

There was a lot of adult and junior team tennis action in the balmy weather over the weekend, with notable success for the PLTC U9 team who clinched a 7-3 win over Mackintosh in the late evening sunshine on Sunday.

It was a big week for the PLTC coaching team, with head coach Rob Cunningham receiving the fantastic news that he had passed his LTA Master Club Coach Qualification making him the first Master of Coaching in Wales. This follows his successful completion of a two-year university course alongside his coaching and management of the Vale Tennis Academy. Last year Rob was also one of the first coaches in Wales to take on a tennis apprentice, Tom Bellingham, who successfully passed his Level 3 coaching qualification last week.
