EMILY Griffiths of Penarth ABC boxed Dakota Quantock of Bridgend ABC at the Penaber ABC show in Caerphilly, and what a fantastic display of boxing by both girls which had the crowd on their feet applauding them.

Dakota was taller than Emily and was using her long jab really well, but Emily was told by coach Neil Munn that she had to block, then step in with her own jab and then come through with her own cross. Emily did this to great effect with Dakota sustaining a bad bleeding nose by the end of the second round.

Going into the third round coach Neil knew Emily was in front. He told Emily to pick her pace and after throwing the right hand, she needed to throw the left hand and another right hand.

Emily did everything Neil had asked of her and more.

Coach Neil said: "I am very proud of Emily and the way she fought and conducted herself. Emily has an excellent future in boxing if she wants to take it to another level and I will be there to support and guide her."
