SULLY Sports played Llanharry FC winning 10 – 1.

Swanbridge was the venue for this first qualifying round of the Welsh FA Cup with the brilliant Red Arrows displaying their skills in the air over the Bristol Channel before the match and Sully Sports hoping to display their own skills at a Sunny Swanbridge.

Llanharry FC, the visitors and the Amateur League team made their first Sully visit for many years. Sports still upset over their 2-1 defeat at Grange Albion last week were out to get back to their normal form this season. Sports took an early lead when Conner Mcinery was put through and his finish was superb, 1-0 to Sports and a very attack minded Sully soon increased their lead when Dan Lawlor made it 2-0. Sports were well on top and Alex long tormented the Visitors to score Sports third goal, Then Mark Brown deflected a Mcinery free kick to claim the fourth and before the break Chiris Rees scored an excellent individual goal, seeing Sully notch five goals in a twenty minute burst. Though the Llanharry team were pegged back they did attack in numbers and could well have hit the net themselves.

The second half saw Sports pick up where they left off in the first half and soon Alex Long and Dan Lawlor combined brilliantly to make it six. The visitors were awarded a penalty on a rare break but Jones struck the ball well over the bar. More chances for Sports saw Chris Rees follow up to poke the ball into the net. Llanharry did find the net with an Excellent Jones effort, but before that Dan Lawlor again combined with Long and Lamb to score. Conner Mcinery hit a great free kick to make it nine. It was left to 16 year old Sam White to get number ten hitting a great left footed strike across the keeper to complete the scoring.

Sports were full value for their win and travel to play second Division Welsh League team Penrhiwcieber Rangers in the next round of the cup on September 13. Sully have been drawn away to Splott Albion in the second round of the FAW Trophy September 20, 2pm, in league action this Saturday, Sports travel to Tonypandy where they meet newcomers Max Utd.

The Sports seconds were also at home versus the unbeaten V1 team and despite going down by 2-1 A David Kavanagh shot from outside the box rocked the net. And as the visitors were defending well. Only a brilliant save from the V1 keeper enabled them to net the points in a very hard game.
