OLD Pens Under-11’s kicked off the season in fine style with a convincing victory over Clwb Rubgy Caredydd this Sunday. Their huge improvement over the previous season, which brought the team its first silverware, continued as they ran in ten tries while restricting their opponents to two scores. Hard training over the summer paid dividends as the Old Pens showed great skill in attack, running the first try minutes after the kick off. It was also an excellent defensive display, with strong tackles and fierce competition at the breakdown from all members of the squad. It was particularly pleasing to see this season’s new recruits put in excellent displays and gelling quickly with the more established members of the side. The team’s flair on the pitch was matched by their stylish new kit, generously sponsored by Nick Stout Paving. This support is much appreciated by the team, who are now looking forward to another successful campaign through the autumn and winter.
