TWO Penarth schoolgirls who play basketball for Wales under-16s have been selected to play for the team in the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) European Youth Championships in Andorra this summer.
St Cyres pupil Carys Allen and Stanwell pupil Emily Skinner, both 15, said they are excited and honoured to be representing their country at the prestigious contest.
Wales under-16s team captain Carys, plays basketball for Cardiff Met Archers and Emily plays for Cardiff Celts. Both play basketball for their school teams.
Teams from across Europe will battle against each other in the FIBA championships which start on July 18.
"I'm really looking forward to being part of the Wales under-16s team at the championship and getting the chance to represent my country for the first time," said Emily, who joined Wales-under 16s last autumn.
