THE big fight feel took over the Vale on Saturday, not for the boxing but for Vale football league action.
We start in the Premier Division, where St Athan rebounded from their opening day defeat to put FC Barry Belgrade to the sword with an impressive 5-2 win in Belgrade's Premier Division bow. Barry Athletic continued their good start to the season as they edged out AFC Rhoose 1-0 in a tight affair to make it two wins from their first two games, while Cowbridge Town secured a 3-1 win over Penarth.
In Division One, Sully Sports are now the only team to have a 100 per cent record at this very early stage of the season, showing the competitiveness of the first division. Sully notched an excellent 5-0 win over SP Billy, while elsewhere Tynewydd and Cadoxton Imps played out a 1-1 draw. Cardiff Airport were 4-2 victors over Barry Saints and Cwm Talwg got their first win of the campaign with a 3-1 victory over Penarth Town B. Cadoxton Athletic and Cogan Coronation played out a 3-3 draw.
In Division Two, Cadoxton Barry made it two from two as they demolished struggling St Athan B 7-1. BRT Dynamos bounced back from an opening day loss with a mammoth 8-0 win away to BV, while AFC Rhoose B could not repeat their nine goal exploits from last week as Barry Albion defeated them 3-0. Finally, Vale Madrid won an eleven goal thriller with Glenbrook 6-5.
There are no fixtures next Saturday due to the Wales international, but there is full a league program this Wednesday evening with Rhoose taking on Barry Belgrade and Cogan against Sully the standout fixtures.
