SULLY Sports Ladies Bowls Club took the prestigious evening league title on Monday, August 21 on a bright sunny evening having played many of their games in rainy and windy conditions.

It was an exciting finish for the league with Sully winning their section by just one point over Llantrisant seconds to progress to the section semi finals. They then had a convincing win over Gilfach Bargoed for a place in the final against Llantrisant firsts who had not lost a game all season. The final was a nail biting finish with one rink finishing five shots up and the other rink having two ends to play. Sully Ladies were able to hold off the opposition to win by one shot.

Captain Mary Dare was delighted with the win. It was a culmination of hard work and dedication by the ladies members as last year we were in danger of folding but we presented a united front working together and looking after each other. Four of the Sully Ladies were also representing the club at county competition. semi-finals but were unsuccessful in their bid to reach the finals losing their games on the last couple of ends by narrow margins.

Sully Ladies are always looking for new members and if anyone would like to come over and have a go, contact Yvonne Lloyd on 02920 530795, we would love to welcome you. Bowls is great fun, keeps you fit and you make friends.
