OVERALL it was a good week for the Villagers of Sully Bowls Club with an unusual shape side going down heavily to Windsor on a very slick green on Wednesday, winning on the last end on Saturday away to Trelewis and winning a quarter final match against Barry Central in the Alun Martin.

Wednesday brought an unusual array of players to Windsor to a green with no green in it, work that out.

The surface was so fast, 17secs, which is indoor pace that a lot of the villagers took to long to find out how to bowl on it.

Only worthy note was the rink of R Fitzjohn, E Pryer, A Smith, D Edwardes winning 17 -14 in an overall 51-95 loss.

Saturday came and we travelled to Trelewis the side who had beaten us at home in our first league match, but with a few holiday makers returning a stronger side travelled.

On 5 and ten ends Sully where a hand full of shots up but by 15 ends had swung the other way and the Villagers where 3 down. As against resent weeks in the heat wave our side stuck to the task in hand clawing back the deficit with 3 rinks of the green, all losing, we were 10 down but the D Curtis rink where 10 up and an end to play which they went on to win holding shot for an 79-80 away win.

G John, R Fitzjohn, A Thomas, D Curtis 26-15, A Smith, D Curtin, M Hardy, B Griffiths 16-21, B Curtis, A Rees, T Murphy, D Edwards 19-22 J Best, J Hubbard, D Hotchkiss, F Phillips 19-21. This was Garth Johns last game for a while for us and we all wish him well.

Sunday brought the two rink Alun Martin quarter final against central played in Sully enough to say a comfortable win was had on both rinks. The semi is to be played this Sunday at 2.30 in Sully against old advisories Dinas Powis.

This week the Villagers are home on Wednesday to Cadoxton and away on Saturday to Millwood in Barry.
