THE Windsor first team suffered a narrow four shot defeat in their home match against Rhiwbina.

It was a match which they had high hopes of winning so as to consolidate their league position.

There were good wins for Ken McLeod with Mike Matthews, Clive Palfrey and Rod Hudson by 30 shots to 9 and for Graham Carlisle with Tom Evans, Phil Gooding and David Rees 20/17.

It was however a heavy defeat for Tony Holmes with Steve Ellard, Mal Hope and Paul Gunter 29/10 and for Matt Woodcock with Richard Flitney, Pete Morrish and Ian Paterson 21/12.

Four points were gained for the two rink wins and all points will be valuable in this league.

It was a double for Rhiwbina as their second team comfortably saw off the Windsor team by 90 shots to 61. Captain Simon Latham with Dave Johnson, Alan Davies and Mike Cuccinello managed a draw but apart from that there were defeats on the other three rinks.

Derek Davies with Arty Woodcock, Keith Williams, and Dave Hales 16/19. Brian Rogers with Tim White, John Hardess and Charles Burton 12/25.

The Alliance team also suffered a heavy defeat away to Cardiff by 78 shots to 49 but there were wins on two rinks. Brian Rogers, Dave Johnson, Tim White and Mike Cuccinello 19/17 and Brin Peregrine, Roger Ellis, Alun Daniel and Dave Lewis 16/12.

In a disappointing week, the one shining light for the men was a big Munro Cup win over Sully by 95 shots to 51.

Leading the way was Matt Woodcock with help from father Arty, Keith Williams and Paul Gunter with a win of 30 shots to 7.

They were closely followed by Mal Hope with Ian Mathias, Steve Ellard and Phil Gooding winning by 30 shots to 16. It was another rink win for skip Tony Holmes with Mike Matthews, Simon Latham and Charlie Lewis by 21 shots to 11.

The fourth rink of Alan Davies, Charles Burton, Clive Palfrey and Ken McLeod suffered a narrow defeat by 2 shots.

What a contrast for the Ladies who are enjoying a very successful season.

Again, it was three wins out of three. In the Evening League, there was a victory by 41 shots to 31 over Penylan.

Ann Morrish, Mary Scarrett, Di Roper and Moyra Owen 29/6. Chris Gunter, Veronica Flitney and Di Thomas 12/25.

There was a big win for the Double Rink team as they outscored Llantrisant by 47 shots to 24.

Leading the way was skip Lars White with Pam Farrell, Ellen Lane and Mary Huntley in a 32/9 scoreline which included a creditable draw for Judy Cummings, Beryl Ellis, Gill Latham and Ann Rees. In the Afternoon League, the Windsor Ladies won on two of the three rinks and gained an overall victory 43/34 over Rumney Gardens.
