COGAN Coronation 1st XI continued their impressive recent form and moved within five points of the league leaders, with games in hand.
Grangetown took the lead through a disputed penalty, conceded by Jon Carpentier. James Curtin saved the spot kick well, but it was followed up by the home side striker who put the ball into an empty net.
Minutes later Dan Owen played a long diagonal pass into the path of Rhodri Foote who calmly lobbed the keeper to make it 1-1.
Just before half time Cogan had a free kick which was blocked by the wall on the edge of the home side's penalty area. The ball was played back into the area and was calmly slotted into the corner of the net by Chris Bramhill. who was judged to have been onside despite appeals from Grangetown.
After the half time break the home side were reduced to 10 players following a sending-off and Cogan started to take control of the game.
This eventually led to a second sending-off for the home side and the victory for Cogan was secured by Lewis Dite who passed the ball into the net to make it 1-3.
Liam Jones impressed for Cogan following a long break due to a shoulder injury.
Cogan Coronation Firsts are at home this Saturday in the 3rd round of the SWFA Senior Cup against Llwynypia BGC. Kick Off is at 2pm at the Recreational Ground.
