STANWELL School pupils enjoyed a busy week of rugby, gymnastics, table tennis and rock climbing at the end of term.

In a first for the school's rugby team three sets of brothers all played for the senior team.

Nathan Frost, Jacob Frost, Will Marsh, Tom Marsh, Owen Rees and Morgan Rees all took to the field against Llantwit Major, with Stanwell winning 50-0.

Year Eight pupil Dex Trivett has been selected to compete in the British Gymnastics finals taking place in Birmingham on Friday, November 7.

Dex will be performing routines on the rings, the high bar, the P bars, the floor, the vault and the pommel horse and will be competing against other talented gymnasts from all around Great Britain. Dex is a member of the Cardiff Central gym team and started gymnastics five years ago. He trains six times a week with his club, so it is a massive commitment for him. A Stanwell School spokesman said: "We are all very proud of him and wish him the best of luck for the finals."

Congratulations to the Year Seven and Eight Table Tennis team who won the 5×60 Vale of Glamorgan Table Tennis competition. The team of four boys will now represent the Vale of Glamorgan at the regional finals. The team was made up of Max Bradley-Glinster, Jonathan Evans, Samuel Charles and Nicholas Johnson.

Well done to Lauren Selman, Sophie Anderton, Maisy Gibbs, Yola Bailey, Megan Lages, Rory Skinner, Reuben Jones and Rhys McGowan who visited Boulders Rock Climbing Centre for a rock climbing taster session. The pupils won the trip by completing more than five hours of physical activity during National School Sports week. During their taster the pupils tried rock climbing, completed a leap of faith and solved a tricky challenge.
