PENARTH Bowling Club’s winning run continued on Wednesday last with a win over local rivals Murch. In the event, the visitors put up a spirited performance which was not really reflected in the final score.
Again, it was the Bob Lewis rink, where Bob with able assistance from Haydn Trow, Don Butler and Phil Davies, produced the outstanding result for Penarth with a resounding win over the visiting captain, Ian Robinson’s four.
There were also good wins for the Dave Clements and Dave Dalby rinks. The other rink produced a far closer contest, with the result in doubt right through, but that redoubtable “firm of solicitors”, Thomas, Thomas, Stockham and Thomas just edged it on the last two ends.
On Sunday, November 2, Penarth entertained Cowbridge in a mixed match and, on Bonfire Night the Mens’ team are expecting a warm reception from the hosts as they make the journey to North Cardiff to face Rhiwbina.
Sat Navs are already being checked and, not to be outdone, Bowen the Books has reportedly dusted down his 1949 edition of the “Boys Own Illustrated Road Atlas” in readiness. Will it have Rhiwbina in it though John?
