SUNDAY morning saw the under 13's triumphant against Abercwmboi seven points to zero in a nail biting repeat of last year’s Blues Cup final. The teams met away at Abercwmboi in the first round of this year’s competition, an unfortunate draw for both teams; however it was a brilliant game.

Penarth defensively were excellent, with big tackles being made by Nick Hauge Jones and Dan Hayes. A captains performance was made by Evan Lloyd both tackling and in the loose. Lewys Williams was outstanding in the rucks and mauls continually turning the ball over. The outstanding moment of the first half goes to Matt Wiltshire, whose turn of speed on the wing blew the opposition defence apart and led to a 50 metre dash to the line, scoring near the post. The try was converted by Drew Muser taking the team into half time.

The coach installed words of wisdom during the break and the team continued a dogged performance defensively keeping the opposition out, all of the team stepping up to the mark to the frustration of the opposition. A well worked and deserved win.

The team so far this season have had wins against Llandaff North, St Peters, Rumney to name a few and are becoming the team to beat, well done boys keep it up.
