THE Penarth Petanque Club held its first competition recently, which will become an annual event, in honour of a long standing member still playing in his 90’s, who passed away.
The Norman Dorling competition was played in the form of a melee. Playing doubles, each individual player was partnered by a different player after each game, with the accumulated total of points at the end producing the winner.
Twenty members took part, with a relative newcomer, Will Thomas of Penarth, taking first place. Sián Hall, Norman’s daughter, presented Will with some bottles of wine, while the club awaits the completion of the trophy which will be made especially, to incorporate Norman’s boule into the design.
