IN atrocious conditions on Sunday morning Penarth RFC Under-13's lost in the Blues Cup Quarter Final to Pontypridd five points to nil.
In a hard battle the home-side played down the hill in the first half and no points were scored, Penarth just holding their own against a well drilled Pontypridd.
Penarth’s forwards were working hard and winning ball in the scrum and turning ball over in the loose.
Pontypridd, however, played a clever kicking game in the second half holding the young Penarth side back in their own half leading to the only points scored by a try.
Pontypridd’s backs continued their game until the close, however hard the boys tried.
Pontypridd were the best side the team have played over the last couple of years. By the end of the game the conditions were so bad it was difficult to see the team strips.
The game was well supported by family, friends and club members. The game was officiated by pro 12 referee Nigel Hennsey.
The squad were Rhys Newman, Morgan Veness, Lewys Williams, Owen Evans, Max Brackley, Max Crandon, Ryan Allen, Evan Lloyd, Aled Rees, Drew Musa, Cameron Sultana, Mason Grady, Nick Hauge-Jones, Matt Wiltshire, Finn Evans, Ethan Mills, Dan Hayes, James Steel, Tariq Amari and Issiac Falen.
