FROM March 6 to 8, Wales Under-17 Netball team travelled to Hull to compete in Netball Europe.

On the bus were three residents of Penarth, which were players Tizzie Birch-Hirst, a Year 12 pupil at Stanwell School and Carys Allen, a Year 11 pupil at St Cyres School.

The third person was international netball umpire, Alison Smith, Penarth born and bred. Tizzie and Carys were playing in defence against England whilst Alison was umpiring the match - all of this on International Women's Day.

Congratulations to all three, unfortunately Wales Under-17's lost to both England and Scotland but had a good win over Northern Ireland.

The umpiring wasn't too bad either.
