THE Vale of Glamorgan Pool League has welcomed its first lady captain Leah May - a very accomplished pool player - who will take the helm of O'Briens pub in Barry town centre for their Thursday night league matches.

Finnegans at Barry Island now have the biggest squad in the league and will be captained by Ian Doel. The future looks bright for pool over the island with young players Joel Ball and Harry Aspro featuring strongly in the team.

The two big matches to look out for this Thursday (October 20) are Borough Arms who are home to Cocopops and the Whitchel who are home to Finnegans, all games start at 8pm.

This week the league will be affiliated to the Welsh Pool Association with the £165 fees being generously donated last week through a raffle at the King William IV Pub in Cadoxton. Again Dave Miller and his patrons dug deep to help out.

Next week the pool league are hoping to name the new county captain.

Please note the Vale of Glamorgan Pool League are still looking for players of all capabilities to join, compete and have fun so if you're interested please contact Joe on 07870 498738 or email valeofglamorganpoolleague@gmail.com
