PENARTH Allstars Netball Club have been given a big boost after scooping £1,000 from leading housebuilder Persimmon Homes East Wales.
The club, which has about 130 members ranging rom three to 17-years-old, will use the money to buy new kit.
Lisa Birchall, from Penarth Allstars Netball club, said: “We are extremely grateful to Persimmon Homes for this wonderful donation.
“We set up the club three years ago with about 20 youngsters. Now we are a thriving club and we’re looking to set up a session for adults who want to return to the game, too.
“With this money we will be able to buy new kit for our 17-year-olds to make them look and feel smarter when they are playing in the Cardiff and Vale Junior Netball League.”
The donation comes as part of Persimmon’s Community Champions scheme, which sees the Llantrisant-based housebuilder donate up to £2,000 to charities and community groups in the region every month.
Nationally, Persimmon has already donated almost £500,000 this year alone.
Victoria Williams, sales director for Persimmon Homes East Wales, said: “We’re delighted to be able to hand this money to the netball club.
“The club does a fantastic job in getting young people up and active.
“We know that running sports clubs in today’s climate can be very tough. This £1,000 will be very helpful.”
